Towards universal quantification in distributional semantic space

چکیده
This paper defines a representation of universal quantification within distributional semantic space. We propose a discourse-internal approach to the meaning of limited instances of every, highlighting the possibilities and limitations of doing textual logic in a purely distributional framework.

Towards a Distributional Semantic Web Stack
The capacity of distributional semantic models (DSMs) to discover similarities over large scale heterogeneous and poorly structured data brings them as a promising universal and low-effort framework to support semantic approximation and knowledge discovery. This position paper explores the role of distributional semantics in the Semantic Web vision, based on state-of-the-art distributional-rela...
متن کاملEntailment above the word level in distributional semantics
We introduce two ways to detect entailment using distributional semantic representations of phrases. Our first experiment shows that the entailment relation between adjective-noun constructions and their head nouns (big cat |= cat), once represented as semantic vector pairs, generalizes to lexical entailment among nouns (dog |= animal). Our second experiment shows that a classifier fed semantic...
متن کاملTowards a dynamic application of distributional semantics
Distributional approaches of natural language semantics generally take a static approach, in which a semantic space is computed once for a full corpus in order to quantify term similarity. The current research proceeds towards a more dynamic approach, by measuring differences in semantic space within subsequent sections of a document as well as between documents. Experiments are performed on a ...
متن کاملDistributional semantic models for the evaluation of disordered language
Atypical semantic and pragmatic expression is frequently reported in the language of children with autism. Although this atypicality often manifests itself in the use of unusual or unexpected words and phrases, the rate of use of such unexpected words is rarely directly measured or quantified. In this paper, we use distributional semantic models to automatically identify unexpected words in nar...
متن کاملThe Semantics of amwu-N-to/-irato/-ina in Korean : Arbitrary Choice and Concession
This paper reports the syntactic distribution of amwu-N-to/-irato/-ina phrases, which are representative polarity sensitive items (PSIs) in Korean, and accounts for their semantic characteristics in terms of "arbitrary choice quantification" and "concession." In the first section, we extensively illustrate the distributional behaviour of the PSIs in various constructions and roughly generalizes...
